Ballerina Brings Dance and Death Together in Last Trailer

We are just three weeks away from the World of John Wick: Ballerina‘s theatrical release, and the Ana de Armas–led spinoff is set to hit theaters on June 6, 2025. Lionsgate has now released a final trailer for Ballerina, and like the previous trailers, this one is just as explosive as its predecessors.

The film is set during John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which was released in 2019. In that film, Keanu Reeves’ character was declared “excommunicado” by the High Table after killing crime boss Santino D’Antonio at the Continental Hotel. As a result, John Wick had a multi-million-dollar bounty on his head, causing him to go on the run across New York City and eventually leading him to the Ruska Roma crime organization’s headquarters.

Directed by the enigmatic figure known only as the Director (played by Anjelica Huston), the Ruska Roma was both a haven for John Wick and a brutal training ground for young recruits. Director’s apprentices were more than dancers; they were ballerina-assassins, and a brief moment in Parabellum teased a young ballerina, played by Unity Phelan, dancing on stage as part of the troupe. Ballerina would then focus on that very character, Eve Macarro, and have Ana de Armas in the role.

Joining Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane returns as Winston, the manager of the Continental. In a bittersweet addition, Lance Reddick, who passed away in March 2023, makes his final appearance as Winston’s right-hand man, Charon, the efficient and perpetually calm concierge at the Continental. Gabriel Byrne joins the cast as the Chancellor, the antagonist of the film. Sharon Duncan-Brewster will be playing Eve’s mentor, Nogi, and Norman Reedus will join the cast as Daniel Pine. Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Castañeda are also in the cast, but their roles are not yet known.

A Tale of Revenge with a Familiar Wick Twist

The first trailer for Ballerina was released in September 2024, which focused on Eve’s background. A young Eve is orphaned and left alone with her father. Her father is brutally killed in front of her, and she joins the Ruska Roma with a clear and burning goal: revenge.

The debut trailer gave off the impression that this was going to be a personal and emotional tale, with only a brief moment showing Keanu Reeves’ John Wick in the film. This contrasted the tone of the second trailer, which was released in March 2025 and highlighted a much more stylized and climactic confrontation between the lead characters. As we finally see Wick, he meets Eve out in the snow in a hazy and atmospheric fight.

The short encounter teased a larger role for Reeves and more interaction between Ballerina’s protagonist and Wick. Yet, like the first, the second trailer focused on more of the larger confrontation between Eve and the mysterious Chancellor.

The Final Trailer Is Fast-Paced and Filled With Action

The latest trailer, which is the third and final trailer, maintains that fast pace. It opens with a Wick silhouette through the scope, as the ballerina assassin looks up at him, presumably caught in his sight. From there, the trailer becomes nonstop action and violence, with a combination of new and old footage being edited into a highly kinetic montage of point-blank combat, gunplay, and brutal choreography.

The sequences in the final trailer put Ana de Armas front and center, as the star of the film has to take on wave after wave of combatants, many of whom are decimated with guns, knives, and just about any other weapon on screen in an incredibly balletic style. Her drive and determination also come across in this trailer, best seen through the line, “This isn’t done until they’re dead,” which is read like a cold, hard fact.

The final trailer makes it clear that this is going to be a wild ride of action and spectacle, all wrapped up in the same choreography and stylized cinematography the John Wick franchise is known for. Where this installment differs is that it is not the film’s titular character that will take the spotlight. Instead, the franchise will be continuing the style and tone of the previous films but in a new direction, with the gaze shifted to the Ballerina assassin as she enacts her revenge.

The inclusion of Reeves’ John Wick, though also heavily featured, takes a backseat to allow Ana de Armas to showcase her skills and take over as the lead, with his presence woven into the story without overshadowing it. There should be more intimate and personal moments here, as well as a slightly larger scope than the typical John Wick films in some of the higher-octane, large-scale set pieces.

Ana de Armas Takes the Lead in From the World of John Wick: Ballerina

All of this, in addition to the style, choreography, and world-building, seems to indicate that fans can expect to get the best of both worlds with Ballerina. For better or for worse, Ana de Armas will be given room to show her skills and talent on-screen. All of that said, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina hits theaters on June 6, 2025, and while it is a spinoff, it will continue the blend of style and substance that has made the franchise so successful for over a decade.
